Drama Workshop

Fourteen Key Stage 3 pupils had the opportunity to take part in a week long drama workshop run by theatre professionals, Pali Göttinger and Zsuzsi Várady. They were introduced to a range of theatre skills and games to improve their concentration, confidence, team work skills, creative thinking and spatial awareness. They focused on the skill of live improvisation on stage and sections of a play by the playwright Dennis Kelly. This play is called DNA and is about a group of children who do something very wrong and have to deal will the consequences.

Even with a four-hour workshop every day, and a full day’s rehearsal on Saturday, pupils never lost their enthusiasm, commitment and energy. On Saturday they gave a final presentation of their work to friends, family and teachers at the Merlin Theatre. It was a fantastic performance, enjoyed by all; the pupils experienced an amazingly fun, educational and memorable week.
